Nashville, TN

Nicholas, a young Marine originally from California but now living in Middle Tennessee, was first introduced to Shofner Vision Center by his girlfriend who received Lasik vision correction surgery prior to entering the Navy. Nicholas served in both Iraq and Afghanistan on previous tours and suffered injuries resulting in a return to the U.S. Dr. Stewart Shofner of Shofner Vision Center learned that Nicholas had volunteered to return overseas, most likely to Afghanistan. When asked what motivates your reason to return, Nicholas genuinely expressed "My heart and soul are with my fellow Marines who are still overseas."Nicholas, Marine Receives Free Lasik by Shofner

Nicholas qualified to receive laser vision correction surgery to be performed by the military. However, because of his continuous overseas deployments, Nicholas was not able to schedule the procedure through military service providers. Nicholas was informed about the complimentary Custom LASIK Program offered by Shofner Vision Center and scheduled surgery just weeks ago. Nicholas received immediate vision improvement post-surgery and is even more excited to report for his next tour of duty this summer.

Payment for LASIK and PRK Surgery
Most branches of the military encourage LASIK or PRK prior to sending their warriors into harms way and even do it at no cost. Each branch of the military now has its own policy for Vision Correction Surgery using both LASIK and/or PRK. However, it is difficult military personnel to qualify and schedule Lasik from military sources.
